Another birding hot spot, Pollywog Pond Birding and & Wildlife Sanctuary is a heavily wooded area surrounding settling ponds for the city’s water treatment efforts. It provides diverse habitats that support numerous bird and wildlife species. Expect to see local specialty birds, late migrants and early winter visitors!

Recently, the AOC has secured grants that facilitated the removal of invasive Castor Bean plant and Guinea grass, and the creation of interpretive signs guiding visitors through the sanctuary.

Periodic opportunities to volunteer will be posted in the newsletter.
