Celebration of Flight, the HawkWatch at Hazel Bazemore Co Park

The Annual Fall Migration Spectacular is underway for viewing on the Hawk Watch Platform located at Hazel Bazemore County Park.  It began in early August and ends in November.  Official HawkWatch counters and viewers are reporting Swallow-tailed Kites, White-tailed Kites, Mississippi Kites and others in August.  The variety and number of species increases until the largest numbers of Broad-winged Hawks are seen towards the end of September.

The Celebration of Flight is scheduled for the last weekend in September, 28th - 30th. AOC members will host our sales and information tables. The Sky King Raptor show will perform several times each day.  Guest lectures on hawks and migration are scheduled.  Master Naturalist will provide activities for children beginning on Saturday morning. Sunday events typically end with a blessing ceremony by Native American groups from the area - a sure way to bring in hawks!

Specific times for the raptor shows, lectures, and children's activities will be posted when available.
