January Meeting on Whooping Crane Research was informative

Dr. Felix Chavez-Ramirez, who is with the Gulf Coast Bird Observatory, gave us an excellent historical overview of the status of the Whooping Crane. He reviewed several experimental programs to establish other populations of Whooping Cranes around the south.  However, his preferred method to hopefully insure the future of the Whooping Crane population is to focus on the wild population that spends the winter here in South Texas.

Everyone enjoyed the presentation by Dr. Chavez-Ramirez and learned a great deal.
