Updates on AOC Annual Donations to ARK, GCBO, and HWI

The ARK (Animal Rehabilitation Keep) Director, Tony Amos, sent us a newsletter detailing their year of unprecedented activity in caring for nearly a thousand cold-stunned sea turtles during last winter's cold spells.  And, the work continues this winter with dozens of turtles admitted in November alone. The AOC donates $1200 a year to support the ARK mission.  The ARK is on Facebook: Animal Rehabilitation Keep (ARK) at UT Marine Science Institute.

The GCBO (Gulf Coast Bird Observatory) is also supported annually by the AOC.  The GCBO mission: Protecting birds and their habitats around the Gulf of Mexico and beyond through Land Protection & Restoration, Avian Research & Monitoring, and Educational Outreach. It is in its 18th year of operations and now has a Site Partner Network that includes 71 sites strategically located in all five U.S. states, five Mexican states, and Cuba that encircle the Gulf of Mexico. The AOC's sanctuaries, including Packery Channel Oak Motte Sanctuary, Fred Jones Sanctuary and Held-Moran Wildlife Sanctuary are three of the GCBO sites.

The HWI (Hawk Watch International) Annual Report for 2013-2014 thanks the AOC for its support not only as an Eagle Member donor, but also as a HWI partner at Hazel Bazemore County Park and  for our member volunteers.  Those listed include Bob and Jo Creglow, Libby Even and Dane Ferrell, Kevin Georg, Joel and Vicki Simon. They are a dedicated team.

The work being done by these organizations is amazing.  The AOC is proud to be able to support their work - and this is only possible through the membership dues, donations and hard work by our members.  Thank you!
